The MSMS is designed to improve academic portfolios by building a wealth of health sciences knowledge and identifying pathways to their dream healthcare careers. The classes in the one-year MSMS parallel the curriculum of the first year of LCME-accredited medical schools, so students can be prepared.

With predictive student analytics integrated into our curriculum and course delivery, the MSMS gives students insights into how they will perform in medical school — including their predicted USMLE Step 1 Board score.

The Traditional On Campus Learning Experience for MSMS

Traditional MSMS Students sit in class alongside PHSU’s first-year medical students. These student experience first-hand the rigors of med school and are better prepared with the study habits necessary to thrive, if they choose to move on to another health professional school after graduation.

Learn from Anywhere with the MSMS Remote

Our Master of Science in Medical Sciences is also offered remotely, so students who are unable to make the move to St. Louis can continue to advance their health sciences education. Remote students take the same one-year curriculum as traditional MSMS students, but classes are delivered virtually via live video feed.

MSMS graduates from PHSU are able to gain a deeper understanding of the material and develop skills that will help them better prepare for the next step in their career. Working with MD students in a professional school setting helps set up our MSMS students for greater success.

Monthly Analytics Reports

The St. Louis Masters in Medical Science drives students to achieve their goals with monthly analytics reports that include a detailed breakdown of how students are performing in each USMLE System and Discipline across their classes.

If you’re pursuing your MD, the MSMS analytics give you the confidence to know you’ll succeed when you apply to medical school.

Creating Pathways to Healthcare Careers

With classes including anatomy, health disparities, and cell biology, our students are equipped to advance to other professional health pathways. In addition to 68 percent of students that advance to MD programs, MSMS graduates have moved on to pharmacy, dental, optometry, podiatry, and other professional health schools across the country.

Admission Requirements

No MCAT, GRE, or other entrance exam is required to apply to the MSMS.

However, applicants are required to:

have a minimum 2.70 GPA and Science GPA on a 4.0 scale
have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university is required
The degree must include the prerequisites in the chart.

Message from the MSMS Coordinator

In 2018, I embarked on teaching in the MSMS program at Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) with a singular belief – this was the program I had yearned for during my pursuit of a medical career. My journey underscored the need for exposure and the assurance that I could navigate a challenging curriculum, collaborate effectively in groups, and refine both strengths and weaknesses. The resonance of the institution’s mission with my clinical practices further fueled my desire to contribute to shaping the future generation of healthcare providers, educators, and administrators.

Suppose you harbor aspirations of becoming a physician or pursuing a healthcare career. In that case, I extend a heartfelt invitation to join our St. Louis Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program at PHSU.
