The Master’s in Medical Sciences Online from PHSU St. Louis is your opportunity to advance your career in healthcare without putting your life on pause. Classes are delivered entirely online over five semesters — or 20 months, so you can learn from anywhere in the world.

Students take the same curriculum as traditional MSMS students, which is also used during the first year of the MD program at PHSU’s School of Medicine. However, the courses are spread over five terms for a flexible part-time course load. Recorded lectures consumed outside of class, while the weekly synchronous class time is focused on student comprehension.

By combining that advanced curriculum with a dynamic classroom and predictive student analytics, the MSMS equips you with the health sciences knowledge needed to advance their careers. The MSMS Online is a 100% online interdisciplinary program in the basic medical sciences, designed to train you in a curriculum that mirrors the first year of PHSU’s MD program. The program’s goal is to help students gain admission to a professional health program or start their career in healthcare.

Classes that fit your busy schedule

For most of the MSMS Online, you learn at your own pace in asynchronous classrooms. This includes virtual labs, self-directed learning videos from professors, and small group discussions.

Once a week for two hours, students join a live Zoom class with time options to choose from each week to fit your schedule. This is the only synchronous sessions of the MSMS Online.

First-year of Medical School curriculum
MSMS students learn the same curriculum as PHSU’s School of Medicine Year 1 students, but all online. In turn, graduates are better-positioned to advance to MD programs and other professional health pathways.
Flexible, On-Demand Learning
Lectures in the MSMS are consumed at your own pace online before synchronous sessions. Students choose from two different weekly synchronous Zoom class times focused on active learning via in-class discussions and clinical situations.

Same MSMS Curriculum, Innovative Delivery

Students can earn their Masters in Medical Science in five 15-week terms with online part-time study. The 42-credit curriculum mirrors the first year of medical school and is completed in under two years. Students’ first terms always consist of Biochemistry I & II (10 credits).

Every year, about 30,000 students are rejected from medical schools in America, but many of those students haven’t been given the tools to help them reach their goals. Often, these same students are from backgrounds that are historically-underrepresented in medical school.

We see the potential in every student to reach their goals in healthcare and go on to serve their communities with culturally-competent care.

Our one-of-a-kind student analytics and dynamic classroom play a major role, allowing us to monitor student performance and progress in real-time. By collecting student responses, we generate insights into how students will perform on USMLE Board exams and help align their future career in healthcare with topical strengths.
